About the Book

"Creative Jazz Piano Arranging"
Book Picture
It is the culmination of more than 30 years experience at teaching piano. The project started in 2008, recording all the songs that were used in the book. Next was the time consuming process of transcribing all the songs. Step three involved applying for and securing all the copyrights to the songs. The next step in the process was finding a fair and honest established publisher that was willing to work with me. Now it was time to fine tune the book, starting with the text and analysis portion of the book, I worked with my publisher page by page until we had produced an easy to read opening section. The correct wording, as well as an attractive, eye catching layout were the main considerations. After completing this portion of the book, I worked with a very talented music engraver for the next few months rewriting, editing, and proofreading. Lastly it was time for the cover and inside page designer. Then it was finally time to go to print.
The basic premise of the book is to give the beginning jazz pianist a system in which to create his own interpretations. "Creative Jazz Piano Arranging" shows you how to transform a basic "Fake Book" melody and chord symbol format into elaborate piano arrangements.
